Sword and buckler Rules
Overview
The rules prioritize the self-preservation paradigm, so any hit received, including afterlows, will be deducted from the rating of the fencer.
Key Points: Self-preservation focus, 2 points for head/body hits, afterblows counted.
Format
- Points awarded: 2 points for cur or thrust to head or body; 1 point for any other valid action
- Doubles: In case of double, the points are deducted from both fencers
- Afterblow: all cuts and thrusts within full tempo after the initial hit are counted in full. Exception: no afterblows after cut or thrust to the head.
- Weapon: Arming sword; up to 100 cm, 750-1100 grams.
